GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Responsible for correctly coding healthcare claims in order to obtain reimbursement from insurance companies and government healthcare programs.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reads and analyzes patient records Determines correct codes for patient records Uses codes to bill insurance providers Interacts with physicians and nurse practitioners to ensure accuracy Manages detailed, specifically-coded information Assists with charge entry Maintains patient confidentiality and information security
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
High School Diploma or GED required Current Certified Professional Coder preferred but not required•AHIMA or
AAPC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Understands CPT and ICD-10 guidelines Familiarity with federal and governmental payer guidelines Familiarity with workers compensation payer guidelines Versed in insurance and use of modifiers Pays close attention to detail and is very accurate Maintains excellent concentration and focus Possesses strong analytical skills to identify discrepancies Must work well in a team setting

Monday•Friday, 8 am•5 pm
