Responsibilities Review and interpret podiatric medical documentation to assign appropriate CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes, including DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards. Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to ensure timely reimbursement. Verify patient insurance information, resolve claim denials, and follow up on unpaid or rejected claims to optimize collections. Maintain detailed and organized medical records, ensuring all documentation aligns with coding and billing requirements. Collaborate with clinical staff to clarify documentation details for precise coding accuracy. Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations, coding guidelines, and payer policies to ensure compliance. Assist in managing medical collections by following up on overdue accounts and communicating effectively with insurance companies and patients. Experience Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a healthcare setting, preferably in podiatry or specialty clinics. Strong knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding standards, DRG classifications, and medical terminology. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used for billing and record management. Experience handling medical records, insurance claims processing, and collections processes. Ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately and efficiently. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure error-free billing practices. Prior experience working with medical office procedures, insurance protocols, and compliance standards is highly desirable.
