Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Coder and Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in medical coding, billing procedures, and medical records management. In this role, you will ensure accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures, facilitate timely billing processes, and support the overall financial health of our practice while maintaining compliance with industry standards. Responsibilities Review and accurately assign diagnostic codes using ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT coding systems to ensure proper documentation of patient encounters. Utilize DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications for hospital billing and reimbursement processes. Prepare and submit claims efficiently through electronic health record (EHR) systems and electronic medical record (EMR) platforms. Verify insurance coverage, process medical collections, and follow up on unpaid or denied claims to optimize revenue cycle management. Maintain comprehensive and organized medical records, ensuring all documentation complies with legal and regulatory standards. Stay current with updates in medical terminology, coding guidelines, and billing regulations to ensure ongoing compliance. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies promptly. Qualifications Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a healthcare setting. Strong knowledge of
ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT
coding systems, as well as DRG classifications. Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and billing procedures. Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for documentation and claim submission. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex clinical information accurately. Knowledge of medical collection practices and insurance claim processing. Prior experience in a medical office environment is preferred; certification such as CPC (Certified Professional Coder) is a plus.
