Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking an in office detail-oriented and motivated Medical Biller to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing the billing process for medical services, ensuring accurate and timely submission of claims, and maintaining clear communication with insurance companies and patients. Your expertise will help optimize revenue cycles, improve cash flow, and support the overall efficiency of our medical practice. Duties Prepare, review, and submit medical claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring adherence to coding standards such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10. Verify patient insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility prior to billing. Accurately assign Diagnosis-Related Group (DRG) codes and other relevant medical codes to facilitate proper reimbursement. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims with insurance companies through effective communication and documentation. Maintain detailed records of all billing activities, including medical records, coding documentation, and correspondence related to collections. Collaborate with medical office staff to ensure completeness of medical records and proper documentation for billing purposes. Conduct medical collections by contacting patients or insurance providers to resolve outstanding balances efficiently. Stay current with changes in medical coding regulations, including updates to ICD coding systems and CPT guidelines, to ensure compliance. Experience Proven experience in medical billing or coding within a healthcare setting is required. Strong knowledge of
ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT
coding systems, and DRG classifications. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used for billing and record management. Prior experience handling medical collections and insurance claim follow-ups. Solid understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare compliance standards. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to accurately interpret complex medical documentation. MUST be proficient in Medicaid. Effective communication skills for interacting with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers.
