Mental Health Medical Biller (Part-Time) Insurance & A/R Specialist

Job Summary We are hiring an experienced Medical Biller / Mental Health Biller with strong skills in insurance verification, claims submission, accounts receivable (A/R), and denial management. This role is ideal for someone with experience in behavioral health, psychotherapy billing, ABA billing, or psychological testing billing who can work independently and manage the full billing cycle. Responsibilities Submit insurance claims (electronic & manual) accurately and on time Perform insurance eligibility verification (Medicare, Medicaid, MCOs, Tricare, Optum) Confirm provider credentialing/paneling prior to claim submission Manage accounts receivable (A/R) and follow up on unpaid claims Investigate, correct, and appeal denied claims Prepare patient billing statements, invoices, and superbills Collect patient balances and track late payments Obtain pre-authorizations and referrals, prior to submission of claims that require Review billing data for accuracy and compliance Maintain proper payer IDs, rates, and billing software updates Generate billing reports, productivity reports, and collection reports Requirements 2+ years medical billing experience (mental health / behavioral health strongly preferred) Experience with full-cycle medical billing / revenue cycle management

Knowledge of:

Medicare, Medicaid, MCO billing Commercial insurance (Optum, Tricare, Anthem, etc.) Strong experience with: Insurance verification Claims submission & follow-up Denial management & appeals Familiarity with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines Proficiency with EHR systems (SimplePractice preferred) Strong Microsoft Excel skills Solid understanding of HIPAA compliance Ability to work independently and multitask Preferred Qualifications Experience with: CPT coding (therapy, ABA, psychological testing) ICD-10 coding Secondary insurance billing Medical collections Experience using Availity (eligibility + records submission) Background in mental health clinic, ABA clinic, or behavioral health setting Experience preparing insurance panel reports and data submissions Schedule Part-Time Evenings required Saturday availability required Compensation $19.00 - $25.00 per hour (based on experience) Why Apply Flexible part-time schedule Specialized mental health billing experience (high-demand skill) Independent role with growth potential Stable, established practice environment How to Apply Apply directly on Indeed with your resume.
