Job Description

Medical Biller — Full-Time East Coast Audiology and Physical Therapy is a busy, multi-disciplinary practice seeking an experienced full-time Medical Biller to join our team. Qualified candidates should have experience working aging reports, reviewing and resolving open and pended claims, entering charges, posting payments, following up on denials, and communicating with insurance companies and patients regarding account balances and billing questions. We are looking for someone who is responsible, organized, dependable, and extremely detail-oriented. This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong multitasking abilities, and the ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced medical office environment. The ideal candidate must be adaptable, willing to learn, and able to work well with others as part of a team. The ability to learn our electronic medical records system quickly is necessary. Administrative experience and comfort handling telephone calls is also preferred.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Prepare and submit billing data and medical claims to insurance companies Create claim batches and process claims through electronic submission Manually process claims that are not eligible for electronic billing Enter charges and post insurance and patient payments Review aging reports and follow up on unpaid, denied, open, or pended claims Identify claims that need attention, make corrections, and resubmit when necessary Monitor claims for appropriate processing and payment Follow up on missed payments and resolve financial discrepancies, including appeals when needed Prepare bills and invoices Examine and discuss billing statements with patients Receive and respond to telephone and written inquiries regarding patient accounts Explain payment and settlement processes to patients and third-party payers Contact patients and/or insurance carriers regarding payment Set up payment arrangements according to established guidelines Verify patient insurance coverage and answer coverage-related questions Communicate consistently and professionally with insurance companies, patients, providers, front office staff, and other departments Maintain knowledge of health insurance industry standards Adhere to HIPAA guidelines, relevant state and federal regulations, and company policies regarding compliance, integrity, patient privacy, and ethical billing practices Qualified candidates should possess: Medical billing experience Strong attention to detail Excellent organization and follow-through Ability to work independently and as part of a team Professional communication skills Problem-solving skills Ability to take feedback, ask questions when needed, and work in a solution-focused manner Experience with insurance follow-up, denials, EOB review, payment posting, and patient account review Experience with physical therapy billing, audiology billing, Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, authorizations, and claim appeals is preferred. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday. No nights or weekends. Pay is based on experience. Qualified candidates should provide a current resume and references for consideration.
Pay:
$18.00 - $21.00 per hour
