Job Description

Medical Coder/Biller- Surgical Specialty Practice We are a growing surgical specialty practice seeking an experienced Medical Coder/Biller to join our Revenue Cycle team. This position is responsible for coding surgical and office-based services, reviewing documentation for coding accuracy, and supporting the billing process to help ensure timely reimbursement. This position has the potential to become a hybrid role, with a combination of in-office and remote work based on training, performance, and business needs. Candidates located in Central Texas are preferred; however, qualified applicants from other locations will also be considered. Responsibilities Review operative reports, office visits, and medical documentation to assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes. Code a variety of general surgery procedures, including bariatric, robotic, laparoscopic, and office-based procedures. Verify documentation supports coding and billing in accordance with payer guidelines and regulatory requirements. Work collaboratively with providers and clinical staff to obtain coding clarification and improve documentation. Review and resolve coding-related claim edits, denials, and reimbursement issues. Assist with revenue cycle initiatives to improve coding accuracy, reduce denials, and maximize reimbursement. Utilize athenaOne (athenahealth) for coding, charge review, claim management, and documentation. Stay current on coding updates, payer policies, Medicare guidelines, and industry best practices. Participate in coding audits and quality improvement initiatives as needed. Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of medical coding and billing experience in a physician practice or ambulatory surgery setting. Experience coding for a general surgery practice is strongly preferred. Bariatric surgery experience is a plus. Experience using athenaOne (athenahealth) is highly preferred. CPC, CCS, or equivalent coding certification is preferred but not required. Strong knowledge of
ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS
Level II, and medical terminology. Understanding of insurance claim processing, reimbursement methodologies, and revenue cycle management. Familiarity with Medicare, commercial payer guidelines, and HIPAA regulations. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, communication skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with a team. Pay:
$60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
