Responsibilities Review and analyze medical records to accurately assign diagnosis and procedure codes using
ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT
(Current Procedural Terminology), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) systems. Ensure compliance with coding guidelines, insurance requirements, and healthcare regulations. Prepare and submit clean claims for reimbursement through electronic Medical Billing and EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims by conducting thorough medical collections and resubmissions as needed. Maintain detailed and organized medical records, ensuring all documentation supports the assigned codes for audit purposes. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation or resolve coding discrepancies promptly. Stay updated on changes in medical terminology, coding standards, and billing regulations to ensure ongoing compliance. Qualifications Proven experience in medical coding and billing within a healthcare setting. Strong knowledge of
ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT
coding, DRG classifications, and medical terminology. Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR systems used for documentation and billing processes. Excellent understanding of medical records management, insurance claim procedures, and medical collection practices. Ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately and efficiently. Prior experience with medical office operations is preferred but not required. Certification in coding (such as CPC or CCS) is highly desirable to demonstrate proficiency in industry standards.
