Job Description

Job Title:
Medical Biller Job Summary:
The Medical Biller is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely billing of patient services to maximize reimbursement and maintain positive relationships with patients, providers, and payers. This role involves charge entry, payment posting, denial management, and claim follow-up to ensure efficient revenue cycle operations.
Primary Job Duties:
Review daily charges for completeness and accuracy before submission. Submit claims using the practice management system and clearinghouse tools. Review and correct claim rejections and resubmit promptly. Post patient and insurance payments, including checks, EFTs, and credit card payments. Identify and process appropriate patient or insurance refunds. Research and resolve denied or unpaid claims by communicating with payers. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of billing regulations, payer requirements, and coding changes. Communicate with patients and front-desk staff regarding balances, payment plans, and billing inquiries. Assist with generating and reviewing aging reports to ensure timely collections. Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of medical billing experience required (urgent care or outpatient experience preferred). Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding. Knowledge of
CMS 1500
claim forms, insurance verification, and payment posting. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and payer compliance guidelines. Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) preferred but not required.
Skills:
High attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients, payers, and staff. Proficient in medical billing software and Microsoft Office applications. Team-oriented with a strong work ethic and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
Compensation:
Competitive pay based on experience — typically $18-$25 per hour . Benefits package include health insurance, dental, vision, and paid time off.
