Position:
Justice Court Services Assistant Senior--> Starting Salary - Range 10, $18.22 Kingman/Cerbat Justice Court is seeking a dedicated and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Justice Court Services Assistant Senior. This position operates on a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with potential for weekend and holiday shifts after six months of employment. In this role, you will serve as a key point of contact for the public, providing daily customer service and support in a fast-paced court environment. This position does not require travel or public speaking but does involve consistent interaction with community members, requiring strong communication skills and professionalism. About the

Mohave County is home to four limited jurisdiction justice courts established by the Constitution of the State of Arizona, under the direct supervision of the Arizona Supreme Court and one of those being the Kingman/Cerbat Justice Court. Accept new filings and/or documents related to existing cases. Review content; determines if documents require immediate attention of judicial officer. Collect fees and issues receipts. Set-up case in electronic and/or manual recording system. Create new or update existing file folders. Issues court process, updates, maintains and records a variety of statistical and/or financial files and records. Responds to inquiries at the counter, by mail and/or by phone, provides legal information without providing legal advice within the scope of designated authority. Determines if request/need is a priority; as required, contacts judicial officer; advises of situation; performs follow-up work as instructed. Processes mail, provides to appropriate parties. Prepares and distributes a variety of court documents; sends out minute entries, forms, correspondence and other items. Pulls cases for court as required or assigned; reviews file; determines completeness of file folder; updates and prepares file for courtroom activities. Assists judicial officer in a variety of tasks as assigned. Performs data entry; updates electronic and/or manual recording systems; updates records of documents filed, action taken and related courtroom activities. Updates paper file with latest in-court files as required. Returns court file to storage area. As assigned, works within the courtroom; sets up court for operations; replenishes supplies, forms and related materials; checks operation of recording machine; loads fresh tapes. Calls cases, witnesses and/or performs other duties as assigned by the judicial officer; operates recording equipment; updates and maintains recording logs; assists witnesses, jurors and others as instructed by the judicial officer. Provides subsequent court dates; issues court process, notices and other court documents; updates electronic and/or manual recording systems. As assigned, serves as the Justice Court bookkeeper; accepts, receives and counts monies paid to the court; validates and/or reconciles cash, checks and other financial instruments; works with others within the office regarding financial and related matters. Works with defendants, family members and others regarding status of payments, crediting of monies paid and related financial matters; reconciles daily financial accounts; identifies discrepancies and problems with balance. Serves as a resource to staff regarding financial, operational and related questions/issues. Allocates payments to the various accounts; determines amount/allocation as required by statute, rule and/or other governing requirements. Compiles, prepares, updates and maintains a variety of regularly scheduled and/or ad hoc financial and statistical files, records, logs and lists. Submits claims for payment for utility bills, training, etc. Writes checks to restitution victims; exonerates bonds; maintains records of cash bonds posted; works with the jail regarding bonds posted there. Communicates and acts in a professional manner with the public, co-workers, and work contacts.
SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs related work as required. Performs special assignments as requested. Exercise regular and predictable attendance and punctuality in accordance with Mohave County Personnel Policies and Procedures. A high school diploma/ GED. AND three (3) years of relevant, progressively responsible court assistant, secretarial, legal secretarial, bookkeeping/accounting, clerical, customer service or closely related work. OR an equivalent combination of experience, education and training, may be considered, which provides the desired knowledge, skills and abilities.
SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENT
Must complete annual training as required by the Committee on Judicial Education and Training (COJET). May be required to possess a valid Driver's License at the start of employment and maintain said license while employed in this position. Provide acceptable driving history at no cost to the County. Modern office practices and procedures. Legal terminology, statues, and court procedures. Principles and practices of recordkeeping, bookkeeping, case flow management, jury management, automation and office operations. Data entry and verification procedures. Internal procedures of the justice court. Trends and practices in adult learning and teaching techniques. Department policies, rules and procedures Mohave County Personnel Policies and Procedures, and Department Regulation. Assessing, evaluating, prioritizing and handling multiple tasks, projects and demands. Producing written presentations and oral reports for internal and external audiences. Organizing and coordinating the efforts of court personnel and others. Establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, other County employees, representatives of other governmental agencies, the bar association, victims, witnesses, litigants, jurors, news media, general public and others having business with the courts of Mohave County. Operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of commonly used and specialized software applications. Communicating and maintaining professionalism with the public, co-workers, and work contacts. Analyze legal documents and interpret statutory requirements. Perform complex legal clerical work independently. Enter and retrieve data from an automated system. Follow written and verbal instructions. Maintain confidentiality and work under pressure in a dynamic environment with changing program demands and priorities. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Perform the essential functions of the job specifications with or without a reasonable accommodation. Comply with Mohave County Personnel Policies and Procedures, and Department Regulations.
