Job Description

Jenner & Block LLP is seeking a mid-level associate to join our expanding Appellate and Supreme Court Litigation Practice in our Washington, DC office. The candidate should be a mid-level associate, preferably with 3-5 years of experience. The starting base salary for this position is expected to be $260,000-$365,000 annually. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, relevant experience, and other position-related factors, consistent with applicable law. The successful candidate can expect to work on all aspects of appellate practice, and on a wide variety of complex matters, for clients across industry sectors and those represented pro bono. Our appellate practitioners appear in state courts, all 13 appellate courts, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Responsibilities will include preparing dispositive and other complex motions at the trial level; drafting appellate, certiorari, and amicus briefs; appearing before state and federal courts for oral arguments; and advising our trial teams on strategic development of trial records and issue preservation, while providing superior service to our clients. Experience representing higher education institutions is a substantial plus. Â
  • Candidates should be detail-oriented, independent self-starters with excellent written and oral communication skills. Â
  • Exceptional academic record is required. Â
  • At least one prior judicial clerkship is required, which must have been at the highest state court level or any federal district or appellate level court. Â
  • Candidates should possess a strong commitment to pro bono representation. Â
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment is essential. Â
  • Membership in the Washington, DC bar is required. Â
