DEPARTMENT
AIDE - BUILDING/ZONING DEPARTMENT
Please visit the City of Monroe's website, www.monroemi.gov to submit an application and upload your resume. The City of Monroe is accepting applications for Department Aide - Building Department. Under the supervision of the Building Official and Zoning Administrator, the Department Aide position functions as a department clerk and administrative aide. This role involves issuing permits, rental registrations, Certificates of Occupancy, and other official documents related to property use and construction activities, ensuring that all paperwork and forms are complete and accurate. Performs clerical and secretarial duties as well as more complex administrative tasks related to permit applications, inspection scheduling, records management, and providing public assistance. This role also involves additional responsibilities, including payroll administration, budget monitoring, cash receipting, maintaining escrow accounts, and reporting on workload and statistics. Provides administrative support to the Code Enforcement Officers, including scheduling appointments, tracking time, following up on inspections, and preparing agendas and PowerPoint presentations. Takes minutes and attends meetings for various committees, such as the Construction Board of Appeals (CBA) and Blight Enforcement. Prepares agendas for the City Council, Boards, and Commissions as requested. Qualifications include an Associate's degree (preferred) and at least three years of administrative assistant experience. The ideal candidate must also be proficient in typing and data entry, use office equipment and technology, Microsoft Suite, and department-specific software, and develop a working knowledge of municipal budgeting and accounting principles. Must achieve a minimum score of 70% on the aptitude test for the City of Monroe. Applicants must reside within 20 miles of City boundaries within one year of employment.
Hourly pay range:
