Job Description
This position is responsible for providing general front desk and office assistant duties to support City Hall and the Finance Department The duties and responsibilities listed are intended only as examples of the types of work performed by employees in this position and are not intended to be all-inclusive. The City reserves the right to revise or change job duties as organizational needs and job requirements change. Answer incoming telephone calls and provide information, or route calls as required. Receive visitors and provide assistance or direct them to appropriate areas and/or staff. Daily cash receipting, including utility billing, accounts receivable, and miscellaneous payments. Weekly mailing of accounts payable checks. Sort postal mail daily. Record and deposit money collected and input as appropriate, reconcile the cash drawer and petty cash balances. Assist with permitting and licensing as appropriate. Handle filing, mailing, copying, faxing, scanning, data entry, and other general office functions. Perform notary public duties. Regular attendance is required. Other tasks as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Good verbal and written English communication skills. Two years' experience in an office setting. Demonstrated knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook Microsoft applications. Cash receipting experience. Preferred Qualifications Previous municipal experience. Customer service experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to respond in a courteous and professional manner with both internal and external customers. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Strong attention to detail. Working knowledge of Microsoft applications, such as but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all co-workers and the public. Ability to work with PDFs, including scanning, editing, merging, and electronic filing.
