Sugar Land Orthodontist Sugar Land, TX Job Details Full-time $15 - $25 an hour 4 hours ago Qualifications Vital signs Dental assisting HIPAA Dental terminology Attention to detail Registered Dental Assistant Organizational skills Patient interaction Full Job Description Job Summary Minimum 2 years continuous experience as a dental assistant -- We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Orthodontic Assistant with an active TSBDE Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license to join our dental team. In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering exceptional orthodontic care by supporting the orthodontist and ensuring smooth patient experiences. Your enthusiasm, technical expertise, and commitment to patient comfort will help us maintain our reputation for excellence in orthodontic treatment. This position offers an engaging environment where your skills directly contribute to transforming smiles and boosting patient confidence. Duties include but not limited to: Assist the orthodontist during patient procedures, including placement and removal of braces, appliances, and retainers, using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency. Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and supplies, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and maintained according to infection control protocols. Take and develop dental X-rays while ensuring proper positioning and adherence to safety standards such as HIPAA regulations. Manage Ortho2 Edge charting with treatment notes, vital signs, and medical history accurately. Provide patient education on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices Cross-trained in front desk operations by scheduling appointments, confirming patient information, and managing medical documentation with precision. Skills Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting with orthodontic procedures and aseptic techniques to prevent infection. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy relevant to orthodontics to communicate effectively with patients and team members. Experience working with Ortho2 Edge management software is a plus. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and iTero scanners while maintaining safety standards for patients and staff. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance to protect patient privacy at all times during record handling and communication. Excellent organizational skills for managing medical records, coding procedures accurately using medical coding standards, and maintaining infection control protocols. Effective communication skills suitable for pediatric and adult dentistry environments; capable of explaining complex procedures in a friendly manner to young patients.
