Job Description

Juvenile Clerk / Assistant Register in Probate Oneida County is accepting applications to fill a Juvenile Clerk / Assistant Register in Probate position in the Circuit Court Office.
SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES
This position performs a variety of duties. As the Juvenile Clerk, this position maintains all records regarding delinquency, children in need of protection or services (CHIPS), municipal ordinance violations, truancy, adoption and termination of parental rights. Daily tasks include scanning, filing, and responding to inquiries from parents, attorneys, and related agencies. Will clerk all hearings in juvenile matters and accurately record minutes, mark exhibits, administer oaths and assist judges as directed. As the Assistant Register in Probate this position will assist by performing all duties assigned by the Register in Probate or the Judges. Duties may include clerking probate, guardianship and mental commitment hearings, responding to inquiries from the public and provide forms as necessary, entering documents for scanning, taking proofs of heirship, signing orders and notices of hearing, reviewing probate documents for accurateness, certifying documents and collecting filing fees.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Qualified candidates must have a high school degree with course work in bookkeeping, accounting, math and/or secretarial sciences (clerical or office management experience). One year post high school education in accounting, or a related field or comparable experience. Two years work experience in court office, business office, legal office or related field. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable/experienced in an office setting, will maintain accurate and complete records, and prepare clear and detailed reports. Must be able to type 50 words per minute. Must be able to research and apply Wisconsin State Statutes and have working knowledge of computer hardware, software and accessories. Requires strict confidentiality. Must be able to communicate effectively with court personnel, attorneys, juveniles and their parents, and the general public.
WAGES AND BENEFITS
Starting 2026 hourly rate of $23.57 to $24.24 plus excellent benefit package, including Wisconsin Retirement System benefits, affordable health, dental and vision insurance and a PTO (Paid Time Off) package with the ability to carry unused PTO into future years.
WORK HOURS AND SCHEDULE
Position works 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with half-hour unpaid lunch.
