Job Description

This is a full time, 40 hour per week position with excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, short term disability and life insurance; a retirement plan with a generous County contribution; as well as paid time off and paid holidays. In the absence of the Equalization Director and/or County Administrator, this position is responsible for the daily operations of the office, including staffing, scheduling, approving leave time, budget oversight, requesting budget amendments, approval of payroll and timesheets, approval of expenditures, enforcing and adhering to county policies, processing accounts payables, ordering supplies, authorizing and coordinating the sale of data and FOIAs, administering software, overseeing the on-line GIS program, leading damage assessment efforts, and assisting in staff evaluations, counseling, and any needed corrective action. Assists with processing recorded documents from Register of Deeds. Additional duties include assisting with posting changes in property descriptions, owner names, and addresses to work roll and computer database; printing reports, notices, and rolls from database; providing information concerning property descriptions and locations, assessed values, and ownership to citizens, township officials, banks, title insurance companies, and other parties. The position also assists with assigning addresses to new structures, and recording and processing these according to established procedures. Performs related general office duties.
EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS
Education :
High School Diploma or GED required. Preferred advanced coursework in legal descriptions and assessments.
Experience:
Minimum one year experience in a governmental and/or office environment. Preferred two years' experience in mapping, equalization, and/or assessing and demonstrated experience in a governmental and/or public environment that involves appraisals, legal descriptions and maps. The county reserves the right to substitute education and experience requirements.
