Loan Officer Training Manager Job Type :
Full Time/ Exempt/ In-person Reports to: Director Operations Position Summary The Loan Officer Training Manager will be responsible for the successful onboarding, training, development, and ongoing performance support of Mortgage Loan Originators (MLOs). This role serves as a subject matter expert on mortgage products, systems, processes, sales best practices, and industry guidelines while ensuring that new and existing loan officers have the knowledge and resources necessary to achieve production goals and maintain compliance standards. The Loan Officer Trainer will develop and deliver training programs, track performance metrics, identify skill gaps, and implement coaching strategies designed to improve loan officer productivity, quality, and overall effectiveness. Essential Duties and Responsibilities New Hire Onboarding & Training
  • Work closely with the HR team to coordinate and manage the onboarding training for newly hired Mortgage Loan Originators.
  • Develop structured onboarding programs to ensure new MLOs are equipped with the knowledge, tools, and resources required for success.
  • Facilitate training on company policies, loan products, mortgage guidelines, systems, workflows, compliance requirements, and sales processes.
  • Ensure all required onboarding milestones and training certifications are completed within established timelines.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for training-related questions during the onboarding period. Ongoing Learning & Development
  • Design, schedule, and conduct recurring training sessions for both new and experienced MLOs.
  • Develop training materials, job aids, reference guides, presentations, and educational resources.
  • Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual training initiatives focused on product knowledge, sales techniques, compliance, and operational updates.
  • Deliver individual and group coaching sessions to improve performance and address identified skill gaps.
  • Create development plans for underperforming loan officers and monitor progress. Product & Guideline Education
  • Monitor changes to agency, investor, regulatory, and company guidelines.
  • Communicate and educate MLOs regarding guideline updates, product changes, process modifications, and industry developments.
  • Develop training content and quick-reference materials to ensure consistent understanding and implementation of guideline changes.
  • Partner with Operations, Underwriting, Compliance, and Secondary Marketing teams to maintain training accuracy. Performance Monitoring & Metrics
  • Track and maintain key performance metrics for loan officers, including: o Loan application volume o Pull-through rates o Conversion ratios o Submission quality o Condition rates o Turn times o Compliance-related findings o Training completion metrics
  • Analyze performance data to identify trends, strengths, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare and distribute regular reports to management regarding training effectiveness and MLO performance.
  • Develop action plans and targeted coaching initiatives based on performance metrics. Process Improvement & Strategic Initiatives
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, surveys, performance outcomes, and feedback.
  • Recommend enhancements to onboarding programs, training curriculum, and development initiatives.
  • Assist with the implementation of new products, technologies, systems, and operational processes.
  • Support organizational growth by developing scalable training programs and learning resources.
  • Maintain a centralized training repository and ensure training materials remain current and accurate. Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Sales Leadership, Operations, Underwriting, Compliance, Marketing, and Human Resources to align training initiatives with business objectives.
  • Support leadership in developing strategies to increase loan officer productivity and retention.
  • Participate in company meetings, product launches, and strategic initiatives impacting MLO development. Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Education, Communications, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent mortgage industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. Experience
  • Minimum 5-8 years of mortgage industry experience.
  • Prior experience as a Mortgage Loan Originator, Sales Manager, Mortgage Trainer, or related role preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Conventional, FHA, VA, Jumbo, and Non-QM mortgage products.
  • Experience creating and delivering professional training programs.
  • Experience coaching and developing sales professionals preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage lending guidelines, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Exceptional presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively train individuals with varying levels of experience.
  • Strong analytical and reporting capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to interpret performance metrics and develop actionable improvement plans.
  • Proficiency in mortgage LOS platforms, CRM systems, learning management systems (LMS), and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

$60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
