Job Description

The Office Manager is the first face and voice that many people encounter as they stop into the office; as such they are not only ambassadors for Christ but for this church. The Office Manager provides essential administrative support to the pastor, staff, leaders and members of the church; and is trusted to maintain strict confidentiality with information they encounter in the course of their duties. While many duties are regular and routine, it is essential that the Office Manager allow flexibility for the unforeseen and unexpected situations that arise and respond to these with grace.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Administrative support functions, ability to work independently, take initiative, and be detail-oriented. Maintain church databases, vital statistics, generate annual church reports in collaboration with pastor and leadership. Produce weekly bulletins, inserts, monthly newsletter, funeral and wedding bulletins, and the like. Post bulletins and newsletters to church website. Develop and produce occasional publications for the church, including brochures, handouts, and other special projects as needed. Manage the church calendar of events, including non-profit groups that use the facilities, the flower calendar, Sunday greeter list. Coordinate funeral and wedding arrangements as needed. Update the outdoor electronic sign as needed, and keep welcome desk materials current. Manage maintenance of office equipment, ensuring an adequate supply of toner, paper, envelopes, etc. Assist in ordering church supplies as requested by various church leaders.
EXPECTATIONS
The Office Manager shall make public relations a priority, offering a professional, welcoming and friendly atmosphere to all, whether in person, on the phone, or via written communication. The Office Manager shall hold all confidential information encountered in the office or in the course of performing their administrative duties in strictest confidence. Concerns needing pastoral care shall be reported to the pastor immediately. The Office Manager shall be loyal to the pastor, staff and church. The Office Manager will participate in an annual evaluation process by the Staff Parish Relations Committee.
QUALIFICATIONS
Detail oriented, self-directed and self-starting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace applications, with willingness to learn any new software as needed. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage time efficiently. Strong computer literacy including data entry to maintain membership records, vital statistics, and generating required church reports. Experience working in a church setting preferred but not required.
WORKING HOURS
Office hours are Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm from September to May, with flexible hours possible during the summer months (June through August) in consultation with the SPRC and Pastor.
Pay:
$20.00 - $21.00 per hour
