In this vital role, you will oversee billing operations, manage compliance with federal and state regulations, and lead a dedicated team to deliver accurate and timely reimbursement. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will help sustain the quality of care our residents deserve while maintaining the financial health of our facility. Responsibilities Oversee all aspects of billing processes for Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party payers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with current regulations. Manage the submission of claims, follow up on denials, and resolve billing discrepancies promptly to optimize revenue cycle performance. Maintain detailed records of billing activities, audits, and correspondence to support transparency and regulatory audits. Collaborate with clinical staff, admissions, and finance teams to verify resident eligibility, insurance coverage, and documentation requirements. Stay current on changes in federal and state Medicaid/Medicare policies to ensure ongoing compliance and adapt billing procedures accordingly. Lead training sessions for staff on billing protocols, documentation standards, and regulatory updates to foster a knowledgeable team environment. Monitor key performance indicators related to billing accuracy, collections, and accounts receivable aging to identify areas for process improvement. Ensure the accuracy of invoices and billing documents. Maintain accurate records of customer accounts. Prepare and send out invoices and billing documents. Process payments and refunds promptly. Resolve customer billing inquiries and disputes. Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on overdue payments. Perform data entry tasks to update customer accounts. Assist with other administrative tasks as needed. Qualifications Proven experience managing Medicare and Medicaid billing within a long-term care or skilled nursing facility setting. Strong understanding of federal (CMS) guidelines, state Medicaid programs, and healthcare reimbursement processes. Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail for managing complex billing cycles. Ability to interpret regulatory requirements accurately and implement compliant procedures effectively. Leadership skills to supervise billing staff, provide training, and foster a collaborative team environment. Proficiency in healthcare management software systems related to billing and electronic health records is preferred. Exceptional communication skills for liaising with insurance providers, regulatory agencies, and internal teams.
