POSITION DESCRIPTION

Counselor Secretary

JOB SUMMARY
Under moderate supervision provide routine clerical support for the efficient operation of the school counseling office and professional staff. Maintain current and accurate confidential student records.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provide general clerical support including word processing, data entry, filing, and file Assist with the registration of new students, including requesting and sending student records, entering student data, and ensure completeness of records. Process changes and adjustments to student schedules. Maintain complete and accurate student records including test scores and final grades on permanent records. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.

Perform other duties as assigned.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Maintain confidentiality Attend meetings and training as directed. Present and communicate in a professional manner. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or higher Experience working in a professional office setting. Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook) Able to operate personal computer, laptop computer, peripheral computer equipment, photocopier, fax machine, and other office equipment with a high degree of skill. Highly motivated with strong organizational skills; able to coordinate multiple tasks at one time. Self-starter; able to work independently. Strong telephone and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to lift 40 lbs. to shoulder height occasionally.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all federal, state, and district requirements. Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents. Ability to demonstrate a professional disposition when working with staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.
