THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The Community Services Agency is recruiting for part-time employees to perform translation and basic clerical duties within the StanWORKs Division. The ideal candidates for this role are well rounded and charismatic individuals who are detailed oriented and have strong customer service skills. THE POSITION
The Community Aide provides a variety of clerical support tasks, ranging from routine to more complex duties, under supervision. This role centers on translation assistance along with clerical responsibilities and collaboration with community partners, primarily focusing on providing translation services for programs such as CalWORKS, CalFresh, and Medi-Cal. Typical responsibilities include receiving applications from various sources, reviewing applications and applicants through data systems, and assigning applications to case managers for benefit eligibility evaluation. Additionally, Aides assist customers in the Department lobbies by helping them file for benefits and directing them to the appropriate staff, as well as performing other clerical tasks. This position serves as a valuable entry point for learning general clerical and county procedures. As employees gain experience, they will work with increased independence while adhering to established guidelines. This job classification is part-time, and employees are classified as extra help.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Provide translation services to clients and assist with providing essential benefits related informationMaintain alphabetic and numeric files by filing and retrieving a variety of documentsSearch files for specific informationComplete necessary paperwork timely and accuratelyMeet and assist the publicProvide information and referrals regarding services available within the communityAnswer the telephone, route calls, take messagesReview documents for propriety and explain basic agency policies to applicants, clients, and the public; andMaintain routine operational records by transferring, coding and indexing data.

EXAMINATION
PROCESSMost County recruitments consist of the steps detailed below and are governed by Merit Principles. The examination process ensures that all applicants are given the same opportunity to gain employment within Stanislaus County.

Application Review and Screening. Applications are carefully screened based on information provided. Those who submit incomplete applications that lack relevant qualifications or do not submit all required documents will not be invited to move on. Written Examination. Applicants will be invited to participate in a written exam that tests knowledge for the position. Oral Examination. Applicants are invited to a panel interview in which they will be evaluated by County subject matter experts. Eligible Lists. Candidates who pass the examination will be placed on an eligible list for that classification. Eligible lists are effective for six months but may be extended up to eighteen months.
GENERAL INFORMATIONCLASSIFICATION
INFORMATIONPart-time extra help is a provisional classification where permanent status may not be obtained. This position is subject to overtime, standby, shift, and callback assignments and will perform related duties as assigned. This position is non-benefited except for participation in a 401a program with Nationwide.

Pass County-paid pre-employment job-related background investigation.
