About Nephrology Associates, P.A. Nephrology Associates, P.A. is the largest single specialty practice caring for patients with kidney disease and hypertension in the State of Delaware and Cecil County, MD. Established in 1974, Nephrology Associates has earned the trust of patients and the respect of the local medical community for nearly five decades. Our board-certified nephrologists and mid-level providers are experts in the management of hypertension, chronic kidney disease, acute renal failure, end-stage renal disease, kidney transplantation, kidney stones, and other kidney-related disorders. Position Summary The Scheduler/Medical assistant is responsible for managing patient appointments, ensuring efficient operations, and providing excellent customer service. This role involves coordinating schedules, handling patient inquiries, and maintaining accurate records. The Scheduler/Medical assistant may also be trained to support the NAPA clinical staff. Key Responsibilities To perform in this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform key responsibilities satisfactorily. Maintain Interventional Nephrologists' Daily Schedule by coordinating with RN's assuring detailed documentation throughout. Coordinate scheduling appointments for hospital follow ups, cancellations and reschedules. Coordinate surgical schedule with administration and surgical coordinator according to physicians' schedules. Request medical records for new patients via fax from referring providers. Answer the phone and manage incoming messages regarding patient care Use various systems for necessary business functions such as: Entering appointments into PM. Updating Braintree for inpatient hospital procedures. Monitoring DOCTalk for incoming requests. Admitting patients into PACS schedule. Obtain and update insurance pre-certifications and co-pays from patients. Provide updates to providers for new patients and hospital follow ups. Mail follow up appointment lettersand lab orders for patients as needed. Completes all aspects of patient charts including; preparing, assembling, filing, maintaining and chart reviews. Prioritize review of medical records with providers as needed. Assist patients and family members in the waiting area by addressing needs, providing updates, and ensuring a positive patient experience. Maintains clerical supplies for the facility. Record minutes for staff huddles or meetings attended on as needed. Maintain confidentiality of all patient records in accordance with HIPAA regulation. Other duties as assigned to meet patient and business needs. Education and Experience Requirements •
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required Associate's degree in healthcare, administration, or related field preferred.
Minimum Experience:
2 years of experience in a medical office settin
Preferred Certifications:
Certified Medical Assistant - Acceptable certifying agencies - Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Health career Association (NHA), and National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) American Heart Association CPR Certification Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities General knowledge of health care terminology. Experience with MS Office Suite and electronic health records (EHR) Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients, coworkers, and healthcare professionals. Excellent patient care skills. Ability to work independently but also collaboratively in a team environment. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Excellent critical thinking abilities to work effectively under pressure in unexpected situations. Must have reliable transportation in the event of having to travel to other offices. Criminal background investigation and drug testing required. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May require periods of walking and standing. Able to carry up to 10lbs frequently, and 35lbs occasionally. Able to bend, stoop, and reach occasionally. Able to effectively hear and verbally communicate with patients, answering phones, and coordinating with other healthcare professionals.
