Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Performs medical office functions. Supports the Objectives and Philosophy of White-Wilson Medical Center.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Welcome and check in patients for appointments. Verify and update patient information in EMR and PACS. Answers telephones, schedules and coordinates appointments, forwards messages to appropriate staff members. Provides pertinent information (exam prep) per doctor's instructions or established clinic guidelines. Checks on lab orders for contrast studies. Contact patients to remind them of the next day appointments. Collects co-pays, co-insurance, deductibles, self-pay charges, and open balances. Reconciles charges and payments at close of day. Initiates release forms for Imaging. Creates imaging CDs and DVDs using the imaging robot and computer mounted CD/DVD burners. Uploads and downloads required documents in the patient's EMR. Orders office supplies. Sorts, distributes, sends, and receives mail and faxes. Consistently displays a positive attitude and a personal commitment to excellence. Attend department meetings and clinic required meetings. Maintains strict confidentiality. Able to complete all tasks individually and work alone when required. Learn and execute Film Librarian tasks. Maintain HIPAA guidelines. Perform any additional related duties as required. Regular and reliable attendance required.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or GED.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. The employee frequently is required to sit for long periods of time; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Ability to exercise good judgment and positively influence and lead others, including handling confrontations with poise and efficiency. Repetitive motion of upper body required for extended use of computers and telephones.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position in an outpatient medical business office setting. The estimated schedule is Monday through Friday between the hours of 7am to 7pm. Based on business need, the ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends, as approved in advance.

Works in a well-lit, office or warehouse environment with routine time spent in an automobile. May operate warehouse and or office equipment; some equipment has moving mechanical parts.
