Job Description

Overview We are seeking dedicated Part-Time Voter Registration/Election Clerks to support the democratic process within our community. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to civic engagement by assisting with voter registration, election setup, and ensuring smooth election operations. Ideal candidates are organized, driven, personable, and committed to expanding their knowledge of elections. This position is essential for maintaining transparent and efficient elections.
Duties May Include:
Registers County residents for voting, including completing forms, determining precincts, changing addresses, transferring registrations between County precincts, filing information, and sending acknowledgement forms or notice of disposition. Prepares lists from the state duplication voter registration elimination project, including canceling registrations and processing return notices. Processes lists of deceased residents from the County and the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH), removing voter registration information. Support election day activities, including setting up polling stations, managing voter check-in processes, and answering phone calls Ensure compliance with election laws and procedures while maintaining impartiality Engage with community members to promote awareness of voting rights and procedures Assists with absentee voting procedures, including verifying registrations, sending and receiving request forms, and preparing, mailing, and processing returned ballots. Answers the telephone and greets service counter visitors, providing information and assistance, taking messages, and referring callers to the appropriate individuals or departments. Performs duties of co-workers in their absence or as necessary to maintain Department operations. Performs related duties as assigned. Job Requirements/Skills High school diploma or HSE with advanced education from a business college or equivalent combination of work experience or training preferred Working knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and the ability to type with speed and accuracy Ability to provide public access to, or maintain confidentiality of, Department information and records according to State requirements Competence in data collection, record keeping, and administrative tasks Knowledge of standard policies and practices of the Clerk's Office, with the ability to assist office visitors, accept and receive payments, maintain, and update Department records, and apply appropriate procedures accordingly Effective communication skills are required for this role because of public engagement and education efforts Shall comply with all employer and Department policies and work rules, including, but not limited to, attendance, safety, drug-free workplace, and personal conduct. Working knowledge of standard office procedures, basic computer skills, including data processing, spreadsheet, and email, as well as Department-specific software applications, with the ability to apply such knowledge to a variety of interrelated processes, tasks, and operations Candidates should be committed to promoting fair elections and engaging with the public professionally.
