About South Bend Heritage Foundation:
South Bend Heritage (SBH) is a nonprofit community development corporation founded in 1974 that is committed to the stabilization and empowerment of our neighborhoods. We believe that where people live affects their quality of life like almost no other factor, and by working holistically to improve the quality of life for low-moderate income neighborhoods and vulnerable individuals, we create a more supportive, thriving environment for our community.Summary:
The chosen candidate will work for and be supervised by the SBH Director of Property Management. Given the nature of the non-profit work, the candidate must have a passion for public sector service and affordable housing. An ideal candidate will want to gain experience in community development, working with low-moderate income households, property management, financial reporting, and federal housing compliance.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Administrative- Assist with general inquiries at front desk/door
- Answer the general phone line for SBH, direct calls as needed
- Meet/Follow-up with clients for various programs Property Management
- Enter property management payables for vendor payments
- Resolve missing/outstanding invoices and rent payments
- Section 8 Process monthly rent payments Complete rent increase requests to housing authority Monitor program to ensure rent increases are received on a timely basis
- Assist with maintenance requests
- Assist with state and federal compliance reporting
- Prepare tenant recertification paperwork
- File and organize property management documents
- Coordinate utility connections, turn on/turn off services
- Check property management phone messages and return messages as directed
- Assisting with budget preparation and tracking expenses
- Scheduling appointments and meetings
- Light errands occasionally (bank deposits, post office, rental property)
Qualifications:
Candidates must have a positive attitude, valid driver's license, good communication skills, property management experience, Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency. Experience with Outlook and Yardi software a plus.Job Type:
