This position is located in the Alexandria Region Child Welfare department. The incumbent to this position serves as the sole Administrative Assistant to the Area Director of the Alexandria Region and performs a variety of functions for the entire region.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION
Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience. The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here .
Job Duties:
Serves as the confidential executive secretary to the Area Director. Performs duties independently and exercises a high degree of independent judgment and initiative in determining the appropriate action in matters. Review, edits and prepares letters, memos, reports, contracts and emails on behalf of the Area Director. Maintains records and files. Review, categorize, and prioritize incoming mail, calls, materials to the Area Director's office Schedule and coordinate meetings and conference calls. Prepare and assist with the development of meeting materials Responsible for all aspects of travel and expense reimbursement including hotel and flight reservations, car rentals, etc. Serves as time administrator, reviewer or backup for the regional office or parish office as needed. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as requires for the smooth operation of the office.

Appointment Type:
This position may be filled as a probational appointment or a job appointment that may last up to 48 months. Job appointments may convert to probational appointments. Also, it may be filled as a detail and promoted within 12 months or by promotion of a permanent classified employee.
Work Schedule:
Typically, work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday. Flexible work schedules are available after meeting certain criteria and is dependent upon the position you are applying for. Some positions require working shifts.
