Position Description:
Reporting to the Executive Director of ASA, Magnet Programs and Compliance Office, and the Administrative Assistant is responsible for effectively communicating with parents and other stakeholders to assist with their children's education, transferring of students, custody issues, residency issues, parental complaints, registration concerns and any issues regarding JPS policy.
Reports to: Executive Director of ASA, Magnet Programs and Compliance Office
Scope of Responsibility:
Manage Compliance Office operations independently and with minimal supervision while providing impeccable customer service
Prioritize, screen and distribute all telephone calls and incoming mail for the Compliance Office
Coordinate all activities for the Compliance Office such as meetings, research, parent conferences and data collection
Become well-versed in policy and procedure and implement the policies and procedures directly impacting the district's schools, students and employees
Prepare complex reports for the Jefferson Parish Schools, ensuring full compliance with Federal, State and JPS policy and regulation
Author professional correspondence to schools and school board personnel as well as parents, students and community stakeholders
Develop a positive rapport with all stakeholders, e. parents, students, community, board members, superintendent and cabinet members
Serve as point person for Executive Director of ASA, Magnet Programs and the Compliance Officer to gather, process and disseminate information and answer all questions regarding Compliance
Serve as liaison between Compliance and other interdepartmental employees at various organizational levels Assess, coordinate and resolve issues without compromise
Utilize community forums and task force meetings to market and promote JPS innovative programs
Work with families of various backgrounds, walks of life, to address academic and personal concerns
Provide support and assistance to families attempting to enroll students in school
Assess circumstances involving families in crisis, while assisting them with a plan of action
Observe and recognize family dynamics to assist in developing coping skills
Redirect telephone requests to proper department without giving customers a sense of "run around"
Assist in creating measurable performance goals
Compile statistical data relative to test scores and information needed by schools and other
Create and maintain an effective electronic filing system that is easily accessible
Performs all other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of ASA, Magnet Programs and the Compliance Office

Physical Involvement:
Sitting is required most of each work day. Must be able to operate office equipment. Standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting up to 10 pounds is sometimes required. Ability to provide own transportation to schools, work locations, and meeting sites. Mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations, including locations not on the ground floor
