Job Description

Are you a highly organized administrative professional and a strong multitasker? If you answer yes, then this might be the job for you. The Town of Brewster is currently seeking a friendly and responsive Administrative Assistant for the Community Planning & Land Use Department. This position serves as a first point of contact for the public to the department and is responsible for providing general administrative support and office management to assist with daily operations of the department and serves as the primary dedicated administrative staff for the Zoning Board of Appeals. Under the general direction of the Director of Community Planning & Land Use & the Building Commissioner, the Administrative Assistant performs a wide range of clerical duties including processing department accounts payable & receivable consistent with budget appropriations. Processes and administers applications before the Zoning Board of Appeals and other relevant boards & committees, including working with applicants to ensure complete applications. Posts meeting notices, prepare agendas and meeting material packets for distribution prior to meetings and ensure compliance with State Open Meeting Law. May occasionally attend night meetings as required. Assists with the administration and coordination of electronic & physical permitting processes, including providing support for mutual permitting and inspection processes with the Building Department. High school degree required. Advanced training desired; Associates degree preferred; with a minimum of two years office experience or related experience required; municipal experience preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. This position is covered under the Personal Bylaw agreement, with a starting pay range of $28.74 - $32.36 per hour, starting pay dependent on qualifications and experience.
