Job Description
Introduction \r\n\r\n\r\nThe Maryland Emergency Medical Services (EMS) System is a coordinated statewide network that includes volunteer and career EMS clinicians, medical and nursing personnel, communications, transportation systems, trauma and specialty care centers and emergency departments.\r\n\r\n\r\nThe Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS) oversees and coordinates all components of the statewide EMS system in accordance with Maryland statute and regulation. This includes planning, operations, evaluation, and research. MIEMSS provides leadership and medical direction, conducts and supports EMS educational programs, operates and maintains a statewide communications system, designates trauma and specialty centers, licenses and regulates commercial ambulance services, and participates in EMS-related public education and prevention programs.\r\n\r\n\r\nMIEMSS is seeking a Commercial Ambulance Program Support Officer.\r\n\r\n GRADE 13\r\n

The Commercial Ambulance Program Support Officer provides administrative support to the Director and Ambulance Program Manager in ensuring that the Maryland Commercial Ambulance industry operates in a manner consistent with MIEMSS' overall state EMS system objectives.�State Office of Commercial Ambulance Licensing and Regulation (SOCALR)\r\n\r\n\r\nPosition Duties:
�\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Create and maintain multiple electronic and paper filing systems for service and vehicle records, mailing lists, inventory, inspections, confidential medical records, confidential medical quality assurance records, and correspondence\r\n Provides administrative support to the Commercial Ambulance Advisory Committee, various SOCALR subcommittees, and special projects.\r\n Activities include preparation of correspondence, agendas, and minutes\r\n Receives and/or redirects customer inquiries, assesses customer needs, and provides appropriate information and/or materials based on existing policies and procedures\r\n Assists the Director in maintaining the SOCALR budget. To include creating and submitting income and expense reconciliation reports.\r\n Reviews commercial ambulance vehicle applications.\r\n Activities include updating paper and electronic files.\r\n Represents the department when conducting business with officials of the commercial ambulance services, other internal MIEMSS departments and other state, federal and private agencies concerning department activities and programs related to the licensing and ongoing oversight of commercial ambulance services\r\n Other duties as assigned\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.\r\n\r\n\r\nExperience:
One year of administrative staff or professional work.\r\n\r\n\r\nNotes:
\r\n1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.\r\n\r\n\r\n2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\r\n\r\nDESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Experience in a Commercial Ambulance operation\r\n Experience reviewing commercial ambulance vehicle applications\r\n Excellent oral and written communication skills\r\n Prefer working knowledge and/or experience with MIEMSS\r\n\r\n\r\nLICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.\r\nSELECTION PROCESS
