The Prince George's County Department of Social Services is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a temporary A dministrative Assistant to The Chief of Finance , (General Clerk 1G ) grade G06 position, in the Human Resources Division . About the Position This position is responsible for providing a range of administrative support and coordination of projects for the Chief of Finance, the Departments of Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and is responsible for maintaining high standards of professionalism, efficiency, personal communication, discretion, and independent judgment. About the Agency The Prince George's County Department of Social Services is in the business of providing opportunities for residents of the County to become independent, responsible and stable members of the community. We do this by providing intervention services that strengthen families, protect children and vulnerable adults, encourage self-sufficiency and promote personal responsibility. We assist our customers through such programs as Temporary Cash Assistance, Food Supplement Program, Medical Assistance, Emergency Assistance, and Foster Care and Adoption Service. Provides a wide variety of administrative support to the Chief of Finance and to the departments under his/her supervision. Manages the Chief of Finance and departmental calendars to prioritize and resolve conflicts and to ensure all commitments and deadlines are met. Prepares responses, correspondence, meeting materials, schedules, and other forms of communications for the Department. Assists the Chief of Finance in coordinating departmental daily activities as well as annual audits to ensure commitments and deadlines are met. Organizes, updates, and maintains Finance and confidential filing systems. Reconciles, processes, reviews, maintains, and submits as required the following: Invoices, Check Requests, Purchase Orders, Contracts, and Expense Reports. Performs standard office tasks such as answering telephones, filing, ordering supplies, faxing and copying, and booking meeting rooms. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate.

Successfully pass preemployment checks which may include reference checks, background investigations, and drug screenings. Be willing and able to serve as an essential employee. Essential employees are expected to report during standard or non-standard hours as operations necessitate, or during emergencies. Essential employees are expected to report or remain at work when other County employees are granted Administrative Leave.
