Job Description

EAST NELSON UNITED METHODIST CHURCH ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES
REVISED 04/29/2026 (Responsible to: Pastor and Staff-Parish Relations Committee) Church receptionist:
  • Be the face of the church; interact in a professional manner with public.
  • Greet members and visitors cheerfully during office hours.
  • Give helpful assistance or refer to others as needed and appropriate.
  • Open church for individuals, or groups during open office hours
Church Communications:
  • Be a self-starter with needed church responsibilities, taking proper initiative to complete required tasks.
  • Answer the phone, receive mail, and check email; relay messages and distribute mail to appropriate individuals or businesses.
  • Send invoices, bills and receipts to Treasurer.
  • Organize and send mass mailings and emails requested by the pastor, or as routine church business
  • Create fliers, sign-up sheets, brochures, etc. for events as requested. (Proficiency in MS Office, including converting old event flyers from Publisher to Word or other software)
  • Update and change outdoor sign as requested
WEBSITE & IT SUPPORT
  • Organize computer and website directories
  • Create marketing emails and E-Connections on GoDaddy
  • Update https://eastnelsonumc.org/ website content using GoDaddy (looking into website rebuild and improvement using alternate website platform/software products)
  • Fill out website account forms as requested
  • Provide technical support for church and committees during scheduled office hours
  • Troubleshoot, conduct maintenance and updates on computers and peripheral equipment.
Administrative Pastoral Support:
  • Provide information and documents as needed.
  • Keep church records current and organized (with the exception of Finance)
  • Update Brick River as needed
  • Create, edit, and produce Newsletter Connections, Sunday bulletin, and Proclaim.
Church Membership Secretary:
  • Maintain current membership rolls and contact information on Servant Keeper
  • Enter worship attendance into Excel
  • Complete the Church Conference Membership Report annually
Manage Church Office:
  • Look 1-2 months out, think ahead and prepare for upcoming needs.
  • Manage copier, repairs, etc; order supplies for office, church, worship, and committees.
  • Keep calendar, schedules, for church events and building use.
  • Monitor climate control for the church along with Trustees.
Pay:
$18.00
