Job Description

SECRETARY- Cheboygan
FULL TIME
(35 Hours per week) District Health Department No. 4 is a dedicated and passionate team that provides leadership in promoting environmental and personal health through health promotion, disease detection, disease prevention, education, and regulation. Secretary AFSCME Position, Non-exempt O•Net 43-6013.00
General Summary:
A secretary who is welcoming and courteous to assist the public over the phone and in person to answer a variety of routine and complex questions in the areas of reproductive health, communicable disease, immunizations, harm reduction, Children's Special Health Care (CSHCS), Women, Infant, Children (WIC) and other health department services, as well as, assist in the flow of clinics and facilitate communication with clinical staff.
Duties:
Complete and maintain accurate, adequate, and timely records in computer software products such as Microsoft Office, Electronic Medical Records software, and similar products. Answer phones, take messages, redirect calls, and prioritize work. Utilize effective communication and conflict resolution skills to serve clientele in a tactful, objective, respectful manner. Inventory and order necessary supplies. Receive and record payments and fees, prepare deposits, and cash reports.
Requirements:
High school graduate or equivalent. Ability to provide services to vulnerable populations in a culturally competent, non-judgmental, and friendly manner in person and by phone. Computer competency skills required, Electronic Medical Records experience preferred. Valid Michigan driver's license or identification and reliable transportation.
Salary:
$15.97 per hour in accordance with current Union contract plus full benefit package. Wage increases to $16.75 upon successful completion of probationary period.
