JOB OVERVIEW
Employees in this job will provide clerical and administrative support to the school's administration, teachers, students and parents.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The job duties listed are typical examples of the work performed by staff in this position. Not all duties assigned to every position in this job are included, nor is it expected that all positions will be assigned every duty. Serves as a confidential secretary to the building administrators and a liaison between the school and community, administrators, parents, staff and students. Builds relationships with staff, students, and the community by serving as the building receptionist and directing calls and mail to the appropriate person. Prepares messages, memos, forms, newsletters, certificates, and handbooks to share with families, staff, and the community. Communicates and facilitates events by maintaining the school calendar, arranging space reservations, and sharing information for posting on the school's website and social media. Maintains an up-to-date and confidential student information database (currently Skyward) with the documentation of attendance, pupil accounting, tardiness, and record keeping. Helps keep students healthy by administering medications in accordance with Michigan Department of Health regulations and Board policy, responding to accidents and illnesses, updating student records, and preparing reports related to the immunization registry. Assists with school orders/purchases, accounts payable/receivable, banking, and school financial reporting tasks. Plays a vital role in coordinating school orientation, open house, and commencement events. Ensures school safety by monitoring visitors and ensuring background checks are complete. Coordinates special events and celebrations involving staff, students, and community. Provides coverage and support during transitions, arrivals, dismissals, lunch, and recess. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma Prior administrative or secretarial experience in a school setting required Positive, flexible, and friendly attitude and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Strong attention to detail and high knowledge of computer software applications, keyboarding and the conventions of written and oral communication.
