Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Assistant, under the direction of the Assistant Housing Director, is responsible for providing administrative, clerical, and project support to the implementation and administration of housing-related programs, including processing program applications, maintaining accurate records, entering data into multiple databases, and providing exceptional customer service to tribal members seeking assistance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(includes, but is not limited to, the following) Maintain accurate data in multiple databases to track housing program activity and support related requirements. Organize, maintain, and update client and program files in accordance with record keeping requirements. Provide clerical and administrative support to all housing service programs and other departments as assigned. Coordinate tasks and resources with other team members and departments to support project execution. Interact professionally and courteously with tribal members, contractors, vendors, and housing staff.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
(includes, but is not limited to, the following) Assist with receptionist functions and greets the general public, directing clients to appropriate staff, as needed. Answer the main phone line and route calls to appropriate staff. Deliver daily deposits and mail to bank and post office, as needed. Process applications for housing-related programs and services, as needed.

Immediate peers, peers in other departments, immediate supervisor/manager, managers in other departments, customers and outside vendors/service providers and Tribal Members seeking assistance.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Position light with lifting of 20 pounds and frequent lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds. Physical factors include constant use of hearing, smell, near/midrange/far vision, depth perception, color/field of vision; frequent standing, walking, sitting, typing; occasional carrying/lifting, pushing/pulling, climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, manual handling, travel to other work sites, and bending. Potential hazards include constant computer use and frequent client contact.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree in business administration preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of two years of experience in housing-related services or programs or experience involving direct client/customer interaction.
Certification/License:
Must comply with the Sault Tribe's Drug-Free Workplace Policy which may include random drug tests.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required. Must be able to establish and maintain effective communication with co-workers, supervisors and the general public. Must have leadership skills.
Excellent organizational skills:
organizing work, prioritizing tasks and managing time with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously required. Must be able to be sensitive to the cultural dimensions of Native American communities. Knowledge of national, state and local housing resources is preferred. Must be able to use word processing, spreadsheet and database software. Must be flexible and available to work various shifts. Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
