Job Description
Mission Advancement Coordinator Organization The CAN Council is a regional nonprofit organization dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect through its nationally accredited and evidence-based education, intervention and advocacy programs. Founded in 1979, the CAN Council has consistently grown to meet the needs of the community's children and families, providing services in Arenac, Bay, Huron and Saginaw counites. For more information, visit CANcouncil.org. Position Responsible for supporting the Development and Communications Director. Assists with the coordination and execution of development activities and fundraising events for all four counties served by the organization. Manages donation processing, acknowledgment, and pledge management activity through the CAN Council's CRM database. Serves as a key point of contact for the Mission Advancement Department by supporting donor, funder, and member communications while helping maintain strong community relationships. Coordinates donor stewardship efforts, including writing and managing donor spotlight content for newsletters and communications. Supports the organization and daily operations of the Mission Advancement Department through meeting coordination, agenda preparation, calendar management, reporting, filing, data entry, inventory oversight, and vendor relationship management. The full-time, non-exempt position reports to the Development and Communications Director. The employee may select as their primary work location the Bay, Saginaw or Huron CAN Council facility. Time will be spent in all CAN Council facilities and throughout each county regularly and as necessary to successfully execute the role. Job responsibilities will require occasional weekend and/or evening work. Responsibilities 1. Work with Mission Advancement Director to plan and execute fundraising events, donor stewardship and advancement activities 2. Support all advancement event and project logistics 3. Track sponsorships, acquisitions, event tickets, raffle tickets, attendees, and vendors for all CAN Council fundraisers 4. Facilitate event committees for procuring auction items 5. Assist with grant tracking and data management 6. Responsible for all monetary and in-kind donation processing, acknowledgements, and pledge management activity in the CRM database, ensuring data integrity and accuracy 7. Collaborate with Accounting for financial reconciliation, donation information and data input 8. Create, maintain, and execute queries and reports from the CRM database 9. Serve as the point person for mailing list management and execution of constituent mailings 10. Develop web forms to manage online donations, event, and sponsorship registration 11. Serve as the first point of contact for the Mission Advancement Department, addressing inquiries and strengthening relationships with donors, funders, members, and community partners 12. Coordinate and write donor spotlight content and other stewardship communications for newsletters and outreach efforts 13. Manage departmental meetings, agendas, calendars, materials inventory, and vendor relationships to support efficient operations 14. Provide administrative support to the Development and Communications Director, including scheduling, meeting preparation, reporting, filing, and data entry 15. Other administrative duties as assigned to achieve the mission of the organization Qualifications Associate degree or equivalent office experience required along with knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Planner all required) and CRM databases. The ideal candidate will be a detail-enthusiast who leads with gratitude and possesses strong analytical, organizational, communication, and writing skills. Candidate must thrive in team settings yet be a strong independent contributor, be highly self-motivated, and able to multi-task, organize, plan, prioritize, and perform assigned duties with minimal supervision. Annual satisfactory background and credit check clearance required.
