About the Role We are a home-based hobby farm and small business looking for a compassionate, organized, and proactive Personal Assistant to help keep our household and growing operation running smoothly. Our flock includes specialty Polish chickens, fluffy Silkies, and a curated mix of breeds that lay stunning rainbow-colored eggs. This role supports a household navigating health recovery, a busy medical professional schedule, and an expanding family — including future fostering and childcare. The right person will be someone who genuinely enjoys variety, thrives in a home environment, and wants to be part of something being built from the ground up. This is a full-time position with the potential for expanded responsibilities as the household and business grow. Compensation is $40,000/year. Key Responsibilities Animal & Farm Care Daily feeding, watering, and care for chickens, cats, and home aquarium Maintain cleanliness of coops and pens; assist with basic upkeep and repairs Manage coop equipment including heaters, waterers, humidifiers, cameras, and smart power strips Support hatching cycles and monitor flock health Assist with farmers market preparation, setup, sales, and breakdown Health & Wellness Support Provide light assistance with medical appointments, scheduling, and transportation as needed Collect medical invoices for insurance reimbursement and help organize health-related documents Support meal planning and nutritious food preparation Help maintain rest and recovery schedules and daily routines Household Management Assist with light cleaning, dishes, laundry, and general household organization Coordinate contractors, gather quotes, and oversee home maintenance and repair projects Track home warranties, service agreements, and seasonal maintenance schedules Manage household supply lists and ensure essentials are well-stocked Oversee deliveries and service appointments Administrative & Small Business Support Manage shared Google/Apple Calendar for the household, including medical, personal, and business scheduling Track Nick's hospital schedule, on-call rotations, medical conferences, and travel commitments Help launch our online store (Shopify or Wix), including pricing, inventory, and shipment processes Assist with social media content for the hobby farm — photos, reels, website, Facebook, and Instagram Handle correspondence, email, and phone communication on behalf of the household Organize and maintain medical documents, billing records, and insurance files Create systems and checklists to support productivity across farm and family responsibilities Travel & House-Sitting Manage the home and care for animals during family travel Handle mail, plant care, security monitoring, and any immediate maintenance needs Coordinate with contractors or family members for longer trips Assist with travel booking, packing, and logistics Childcare & Fostering Support (Future) Assist with daily care for children, including meals, homework help, and activities Support the transition of foster children into the home and assist with related paperwork and appointments Help coordinate school schedules, playdates, and extracurricular activities Willingness to be vetted by the foster care agency for unsupervised transportation of children What We're Looking For Genuinely comfortable with animals, farm tasks, and a home-based work environment Organized and detail-oriented, with strong follow-through and proactive communication Comfortable managing contractors, home projects, and logistics independently Compassionate and emotionally supportive — able to bring calm and steadiness to a busy household Physically capable of farm work, including lifting feed bags (30-50 lbs), coop cleaning, and carrying supplies on hilly terrain Tech-comfortable with tools like Google Calendar, Shopify/Wix, and social media platforms Flexible and patient, with the ability to adapt as needs shift Childcare or nanny experience a plus; foster care experience especially welcome In your resume, please include any technology systems you've used and examples of programs or businesses you've helped build or support.
