Position Function:
Performs a variety of basic office support and/or secretarial duties for North Mississippi Research & Extension Center. Employees hired into Intermittent positions are limited to working no more than 720 hours per fiscal year.
Salary Grade:
UC Please see Staff Compensation Structure or Skilled Crafts and Service Maintenance Compensation Schedule for salary ranges. For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following examples are intended as illustrations only of the various types of duties assigned in positions allocated to this classification. Greet and welcome guests and visitors; answer and return phone calls and emails in a timely manner while also directing calls, messages, and requests to appropriate personnel. 2. Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail; prepare and send outgoing mail. 3. Operate a computer to perform basic typing and data entry using word processing and spreadsheets; operate printers, copiers, scanners, and other office equipment as needed. 4. Assist with event setup, registration, and cleanup. 5. Assist with filing documents and organizing materials and office spaces. 6. Perform other support duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. High school education or GED. 2. Must have a valid Mississippi driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures. Receptionist skills. Skill in the use of operating basic office equipment. Organization skills. Word processing and/or data entry skills. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information. Ability to meet supervisor expectations. Working Conditions and Physical Effort
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. There may be limited outdoor work to assist with events.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • No or very limited physical effort required.
