Job Description

Assist three full-time mental health providers (two psychologists and a psychiatrist) in a private mental health practice setting serving children and adults. We are seeking a versatile Office Assistant to join our team. We are looking for a candidate who blends strong administrative skills with warm and attentive customer service. The individual in this position answers phones and responds to emails in a timely and professional manner, schedules patient appointments, performs patient check-in and check-out procedures, including collection of intake forms and payment, and processing of privileged patient health information, files patient records, balances daily receipts, and performs other administrative duties as required. They maintain compliance with established HIPAA guidelines, demonstrate good customer service skills when interacting with patients and their families, exhibit effective communication skills and teamwork, and have effective computer skills. This is an onsite part-time position (2 days per week, 9am-5pm) in Chapel Hill, NC. The start date for this position is on or around 7/20/2026. The starting pay range for this position is $17 - $18.50 per hour (with pay offer determined by experience). Benefits include paid time off and 401K (once eligibility criteria are met). High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. No licensure or certification is required. Previous work experience in a medical office is preferred.
Must be able to:
read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals and communicate effectively with patients and providers orally and in writing; add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; enter and process data accurately and use email and standard word processing software effectively; and apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
