Job Description

CHURCH ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
First United Methodist Church of Mount Gilead and Zion United Methodist Church are seeking a part-time Administrative Assistant to support the ministries and daily operations of our two congregations. This position serves as the welcoming face of the church office and provides administrative, communication, and organizational support to the pastor, church leadership, members, and the community. Position Details Part-Time (16 hours per week) Monday-Thursday, approximately 4 hours per day $15.00-$20.00 per hour, depending on experience Reports to the Pastor and Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) Responsibilities Greet visitors and answer phone calls in a friendly and professional manner Manage church calendars, facility scheduling, and office communications Prepare weekly worship bulletins and special service bulletins Assist with church newsletters, announcements, email communications, and mailings Update church websites and social media platforms Maintain membership records and church databases Coordinate memorial and honorarium acknowledgments Prepare correspondence, letters, and documents as requested Assist with scheduling appointments and meetings Maintain church records, files, and historical documents Order office and ministry supplies as needed Support church events and ministry activities through administrative coordination Work collaboratively with church leadership, volunteers, and ministry teams Maintain confidentiality regarding church, staff, and member information Perform other administrative duties as assigned Qualifications Strong organizational and time management skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, and common computer applications Ability to learn church software, websites, and communication platforms Attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities Friendly, welcoming, and professional demeanor Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment Previous administrative, office, church, nonprofit, or customer service experience preferred The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, personable, and technologically proficient. They enjoy working with people, communicate well, and are able to work effectively with pastors, volunteers, church leadership, and the public.
