Job Description

Person County Government is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Election Administration Specialist for Elections. This position plays an essential role in supporting the administration of local, state, and federal elections while helping to uphold the integrity, transparency, and efficiency of the electoral process in Person County. The starting salary will be determined with consideration given to both the candidate's educational background and relevant work experience. Must possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record per County policy. This is a non-exempt position working 37.5 hours weekly/1950 hours annually. The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Help maintain election files and voter registration records, enters and scans voter registration documents to register new voters; and updates existing registrations. Provide administrative support to ensure efficient operations of the office including filing, copying, scanning, preparing and maintaining records, files, and supply inventory Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and maintaining records for precinct officials, and help support engagement and retention efforts. Support the coordination, scheduling, and delivery of training sessions for precinct officials. Assists with greeting citizens at the office, helping with questions, processing voter registration cards, creating voter photo ID cards, and corresponding and assisting voters with election related processes Assist staff with fulfilling public records requests and updating website content. Assist with absentee and provisional ballot processes and procedures; reviews outgoing and incoming materials, conducts research, and provides supporting documentation to assist staff and the board in executing proper decisions in accordance with the law. Assist with preparation of candidate filing processes; updates candidate packets and materials for candidates. Aids with campaign finance reporting; provide guidance to candidates, review reporting schedules with committee treasurers and ensure committees have submitted required reports timely; audit reports for accuracy and maintain the reports for public viewing. Assist in preparing for precinct supplies, materials, and equipment including deliveries, for each precinct. Maintains all required licenses and certifications by attending required continuing education courses. Completes other administrative tasks relevant to the work performed. Associate's Degree in Business or Public Administration or related discipline. Two (2) years of administrative support, customer service or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Election experience preferred. Ability to obtain and maintain certification as a Notary Public. Ability to obtain and maintain certification as a North Carolina Elections Administrator. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
