Job Description

Secretary - School Counseling Office 2026-2027 School Year Position available on/about September 1, 2026.
Description:
The secretary provides a wide variety of complex and confidential administrative and secretarial support to the counseling office, conveys information regarding department functions and procedures, and ensures efficient operation and coordination of assigned projects and counseling events. The position also requires advanced technological proficiency to manage student information systems, communication platforms, and digital tools that support counseling services and streamline department operations.

Skills are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills to meet changing job conditions.
Specific skill-based competencies include:
Serving as the primary point of contact for visitors, students, staff, and parents; greet and direct inquiries promptly Demonstrating a deep understanding and daily use of Genesis Student Information System for enrollment, scheduling, data management, and student records Providing support with master scheduling processes, including managing course requests, assisting with building schedules, and maintaining accurate scheduling records in collaboration with counselors and administration. Utilizing SCOIR platform for college and career planning, student tracking, and postsecondary application support Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams) for communication, data analysis, reporting, and scheduling Creating and maintaining digital communications and visual materials using Canva for presentations, newsletters, and department outreach Prepare confidential and non-confidential reports, letters, and correspondence Support scholarship programs, testing coordination (AP, PSAT, SAT, ACT), and college representative visits Maintain and update the counseling department's website and communication platforms
Terms of Employment:
12-month position Position is subject to the conditions of the Manasquan Education Association collective bargaining agreement.
Annual Salary Range:
$60,160 - $65,180.
General Description of Benefits:
Employee-only medical, prescription, and dental benefits subject to requirements and employee contributions under Chapter 44, as applicable, or payment for insurance waiver ($2,500 single). Full family benefits included after completing three years of employment. Enrollment in NJ Public Employees' Retirement System. Criminal History /
