Job Description

JOB Incumbents perform routine clerical work, under the direction of a higher-level employee as designated by the Director and/or assists in performing more difficult and responsible tasks. Work is routine, however, additional and more complex duties may be added as incumbents gain experience on particular assignments and section activities. Work is reviewed by immediate observation, cross checking or by another step in the clerical process. No supervision is exercised over personnel.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Sorts, indexes and files mail and other material alphabetically, chronologically or numerically pursuant to parking violations; Opens, time-stamps, sorts and distributes mail, including violation payments and hearing requests within each section; Retrieves data pertinent to payments, correspondence and adjudicative records from computers and manual files; Provides customer service in all areas of the
Parking Violations Bureau:
collects fines, penalties and other related fees under the direction of the Assistant Operations Supervisor; Prepares records pertaining to parking violations including but not limited to pleas; Answers telephones and gives out routine information regarding charges of parking summonses; Operates simple computing and other office machines; May assist in the input/retrieval of data on a computer terminal; May assist the Assistant Operations Supervisor or other supervisors in compiling of data, statistics and other basic information; Makes simple arithmetic computations; Performs related duties as required.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Working knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment; Working knowledge of business arithmetic; Working knowledge of proper grammatical usage, punctuation and spelling; Clerical aptitude; Ability to be trained in the operation of computer terminal for the input/retrieval of data; Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions;, Ability to get along well with others; Ability to write legibly; Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
