Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic team as a Planning, Zoning, and Building Clerk, where you will play a vital role in supporting development, land use planning, and building permit processes. Duties Will be "the first face" of the department in dealing with applicants, professionals, and community members. Administrative assistant to the Director of Planning, Zoning, and Code Enforcement. MUST be available for Tuesday evening meetings commencing at 6:30pm. This is non-negotiable. Converse with community members, applicants, contractors, and other professionals; either in person, by phone, or email. Answer general questions and direct more specific questions to the appropriate staff member. Assist with processing applications, zoning permits, building permits, and related documentation accurately and efficiently. Computer data entry Prepare detailed agendas, meeting minutes, reports, summaries, and correspondence for internal teams and public dissemination. Receiving and sending mail and plans via US Postal service. Prepare invoices and vouchers Maintain and file paper records, plan sets, and maps. Maintain and update project schedules to ensure timely review and approval of development proposals Support research efforts of prior records to inform decision-making. Coordinate with contractors, developers, officials, and community stakeholders to facilitate project progress and compliance with local ordinances. Contribute to data-driven decision-making by performing research on land use trends, demographic shifts, and infrastructure needs. Qualifications Excellent communication skills for liaising with diverse stakeholders including officials, developers, contractors, and community members. Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously. Proven experience with Google, Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite. Ability to quickly learn new software. Comfortable with following established processes. Ability to work in a busy, sometimes noisy, environment Ability to understand zoning codes, building regulations, and environmental policies effectively. Knowledge of planning principles, land use and environmental law, construction practices, and transportation systems is a plus. Excellent data collection skills along with the ability to analyze complex datasets for reporting purposes. Strong report writing capabilities with attention to detail for documentation accuracy. Familiarity with contracts management and understanding of legal considerations in planning projects is advantageous.
Pay:
$22.00 - $25.00 per hour
