This is a unique opportunity to work closely with an accomplished artist in Manhattan while gaining meaningful experience in disability support, arts education, and creative collaboration. We are seeking a full-time assistant to support our daughter, Alba , an artist with cerebral palsy who lives and works in Manhattan, NY. Alba uses a motorized wheelchair for mobility and an augmentative communication device to communicate. She is an active artist, teacher, and vibrant community member who loves music, spending time outdoors, socializing with friends, and time with her sweet dog, Lucky. This role is ideal for someone interested in art, arts education, disability inclusion, occupational therapy, adaptive arts, special education, or creative support work.
What the role includes:
Accompanying Alba to her art studio in Chelsea 3 days per week Supporting her during teaching commitments 1 day per week Assisting with creative and administrative projects at home, including lesson planning, website updates, and social media related to her artwork Supporting community outings, social activities, and daily routines Assisting with activities of daily living, including personal care support such as toileting and mealtime assistance Who would be a great fit: Art students, recent art graduates, or creative professionals Individuals interested in disability advocacy, adaptive arts, occupational therapy, or inclusive education Someone dependable, organized, warm, and proactive Comfortable with hands-on support and personal care assistance Experience supporting people with disabilities is a plus, but not required—we are happy to train the right person
Position Details:
Full-time | Monday-Friday | 8 hours/day Immediate start Based in
Manhattan, NY Compensation:
This full-time position is funded through two programs: 20 hours/week as a Personal Care Assistant (CDPAP): $20.60/hour 20 hours/week as a Habilitation Specialist (OPWDD Self-Direction): $27.80/hour , increasing to $35/hour within approximately 30 days This is a rare opportunity to support a dynamic artist while doing meaningful work that blends creativity, human connection, advocacy, and practical support.

$27.86 per hour
