Open Until Filled (apply at gbsdjobs.com) Position Summary The Center for Advanced Learning (CAL) is seeking an Assistant Attendance Secretary to support the daily operations of our attendance systems and front office functions. This role is essential to ensuring accurate student attendance reporting, maintaining compliance with state requirements, and supporting early intervention efforts aligned to CAL's "Every Student, Every Day" approach. The Assistant Attendance Secretary manages attendance data, communicates with students and families, and collaborates with staff to ensure consistent, responsive, and student-centered systems. This position requires strong attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to manage high-volume workflows while maintaining a welcoming and professional presence in a dynamic school environment. Proficiency in a student information system, preferably Synergy SIS, is highly desired. Key Responsibilities Maintain accurate daily attendance records, including entry, reconciliation, and verification
Monitor and follow up on absences, including outreach to families regarding unexcused absences and attendance concerns
Track and support processes related to chronic absenteeism, truancy, and 10-day non-attendance
Respond to inquiries from students, families, staff, and community members with clarity and professionalism
Support front office operations, including phone systems, messaging, and routing communication
Collaborate with administration, counselors, and staff to support attendance interventions and student success
Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with FERPA and CAL policies
Assist with general administrative tasks, communication materials, and school operations as needed
Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and student-centered school culture Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent
Prior administrative or clerical experience with increasing responsibility
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Experience with data entry, recordkeeping, and customer service
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment Preferred Qualifications Experience in a K-12 school setting, particularly with attendance systems
Proficiency with Synergy SIS or similar student information systems
Familiarity with attendance compliance, reporting requirements, and school operations
Experience supporting attendance intervention systems or MTSS frameworks
Bilingual/multilingual skills strongly desired to support communication with our diverse community Work Environment & Expectations This position requires the ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the day, use standard office technology, and maintain focus in a busy school environment.
