Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Full-time Secretary & Treasurer to join Strattanville Borough and the Municipal Authority of Strattanville. This vital, busy role combines administrative excellence with financial stewardship, ensuring smooth office operations and very accurate financial management. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and possess a foundation in bookkeeping practices, including familiarity with financial concepts and competency in internet usage, e-mail, scanning to e-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PDFs. You will support leadership by managing administrative tasks while overseeing the Borough's and Municipal Authority's various accounts through diligent bookkeeping, account reconciliation, and financial reporting. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to local government committed to transparency. Duties Manage all administrative functions including scheduling, correspondence, and record keeping to ensure efficient office operations. Maintain accurate financial records using accounting software made specifically for boroughs and municipalities. Prepare monthly sewage invoices, keep accurate customer accounts, treat delinquent customers politely, and must be able to shut-off services when customers are delinquent for two months. Process payroll and ensure timely tax filings while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. Prepare two annual budgets by analyzing financial data and preparing reports that support good financial decision-making. Perform account analysis and account reconciliation regularly to ensure accuracy of financial statements. Support governmental accounting requirements using the Chart of Accounts and maintain compliance with relevant regulations. Generate detailed financial reports and summaries for internal review and external audits as needed. Skills Experience with bank reconciliation, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll processing. Familiarity with tax experience related to Borough filings and reporting requirements. Understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, journal entries, bookkeeping, and account reconciliation procedures. Skilled in financial report writing with attention to detail for clarity and accuracy. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment, coordinate with Borough Tax Collector concerning current residents and tax rolls, follow codes & regulations, and supervise part-time employee. Excellent customer service skills and frequent communication with sewer customers and landlords. Knowledge of budgeting to assist in local government planning and resource allocation. Pay:
$29,120.00 - $34,320.00 per year
