Job Summary The purpose of this position is to help strengthen communications, public engagement efforts and relationships with external customers and stakeholders impacted by Metro District's Rethinking I-94 process and the Community Connections office. Rethinking I-94 is a long-term effort to rebuild the interstate between downtown St. Paul and downtown Minneapolis. The engagement work entails communicating project updates and involving community members and stakeholders in processes to understand their priorities and desires for the interstate. The Community Connections office works on non-transportation projects including public art, recreation areas and community gardens. This position is responsible for helping execute communications and public engagement plans, which will include completing administrative tasks, planning, research, and communications and public engagement-related activities. The Minnesota Department of Transportation does not sponsor applicants for work visas or Optional Practical Training Extensions for STEM Students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment. This position is located at district headquarters in Roseville and has the flexibility to work in the office or a hybrid schedule that includes in office and teleworking time. If working a hybrid schedule, the incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Experience assisting with community outreach, public engagement, or communications activities. Experience preparing written materials such as flyers, newsletters, presentations, or web content. Customer service or community-facing experience that demonstrates the ability to work effectively with diverse communities and stakeholder groups. Experience using Windows-based operating system and programs, with emphasis on Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Candidates must be currently enrolled or enrolling within three months as a full-time student (six semester/9 quarter credits) in a post-secondary or graduate program with a GPA of at least 2.0.
