Tim Mathews Key Responsibilities Key responsibilities and day to day responsibilities of this position: Develops and coordinates plans and policies, resources, and mission as well as goals, vision, and expectations of agency or program; prepares and updates plans and priorities. Develops, directs, and/or evaluates programs. Monitors and evaluates operations, programs, processes and/or practices for quality and effectiveness; makes recommendations for improvement. Negotiates or mediates issues with internal and/or external agency representatives, and/ or concerned outside parties or their representatives. Settles or resolves issues or complaints. Plan, organize, and direct overall workplace functions; coordinate time, vacation schedules and staff coverage; establish workplace procedures; authorize billings/expenditures; maintain records; arrange for equipment maintenance, etc. Monitors agency or program budget including revenues, expenditures and budget projection, etc. Represents the agency with federal, state, and local government units, in the media, or with private organizations.
Supervises subordinate personnel including:
hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions. Qualifications Minimum or "day-one" qualifications: 2+ years of experience with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities 2+ years of personnel management experience Experience implementing training programs Preferred or trainable/on-the-job qualifications: Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, and/or approaches to problems Understands the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making Has excellent customer service skills and deals with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism Has the ability to research and apply applicable laws, rules, regulations and/or policies and procedures Handles stress calmly and professionally Enjoys motivating people and working as a team Develops objectives and specifies the strategies and actions to achieve these objectives About the Role Incumbents act as a program administrator or act as a region administrator within a large division requiring regional structure and staff to deliver DHHS programs. Incumbents direct the development of policies and programs for the region, assess overall program needs, resolve citizen complaints, represent the division to communities and at conferences, develop and manage the region's budget and typically serve on the executive staff and have a major role in developing and implementing executive policy and related matters.
