RESPONSIBILITIES
Reports Directly to the West Bay Collaborative Director of Special Education Supervise all staff assigned to the Elevate Futures to include certified, non-certified staff and contracted personnel Assist the West Bay Collaborative Director of Special Education in the supervision of other programs as deemed necessary Effectively evaluate certified faculty using the RIDE Evaluation Model Effectively evaluate non-certified staff using the West Bay Collaborative format Recommend personnel appointments and assignments to the Special Education Director and/or Executive Director Establish and maintain a positive school climate Work with the West Bay Collaborative Director of Special Education to review student referrals to program Establish and maintain positive relationships RI Special Education Directors of sending districts Solicit and maintain community partnerships to support student programming Organize family and community engagement opportunities within the program Meet regularly with Administration, staff, and sending districts regarding status of referrals and students transitioning to and from program Monitors adherence of teachers to approved curriculum and standards including effective lesson planning and content area progress Monitor student progress by frequently analyzing assessment data Maintain student attendance records and report attendance to sending district monthly Execute protocols and procedures established to report truancy Monitor student progress toward completion of graduation requirements as outlined by sending district Identify program needs and generate annual program budget recommendations to be given to the Executive Director Responsible for management and inventory of equipment and supplies Comply with all state and federal program regulations (IDEA and 504), train staff on regulations and guidance as appropriate. Work closely with students, families, and program social workers and special education teachers to identify and coordinate student career exploration opportunities, develop employment skills and support efforts to obtain meaningful employment. Provide and facilitate professional development for faculty and staff based on programmatic needs as approved by the West Bay Collaborative Director of Special Education Participate in professional development and keep abreast of current instruction and assessment practices as approved by the Executive Director and/or Director of Special Education Work closely with the Director of Special Education, Lead Behavior Specialist, Program Social Worker, Teachers and Behavior Specialists to implement, lead, and monitor a school-wide positive behavior program Communicate effectively with all stakeholders Attend school and community functions Attend all Administrative and Committee meetings as directed by the Executive Director and/or Director of Special Education Coordinate and supervise safety procedures and practices Complete, on time, all reports required by the Executive Director, Director of Special Education, and other local or state agencies Manage and lead daily school operations Performs other duties as requested by the Executive Director and/or
Director of Special Education Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS
Holds valid Principal's certification issued by RIDE or is eligible for certification Master's Degree in Special Education or Educational Administration preferred Minimum of five years of successful teaching or related service experience Minimum of three years of successful school leadership experience preferred Demonstrated leadership excellence Completion of a series of successful interviews West Bay Collaborative is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer
