Job Description

Town Clerk Job Opening Trenton Town is accepting applications for the position of Town Clerk. This position serves as an essential part of town operations and provides administrative, clerical, and financial support to the Town Council, Mayor, and community residents. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, professional, and able to work independently while maintaining a welcoming and helpful environment for the public. Position Summary The Town Clerk performs a variety of office administration, customer service, recordkeeping, and financial management duties. Responsibilities include maintaining town records, handling correspondence, assisting residents, preparing meeting materials, processing payments, and managing basic municipal finances. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Answer phones, emails, and assist residents and visitors Maintain town records, files, and official documents Prepare agendas, meeting packets, minutes, and public notices Attend Town Council meetings and record meeting minutes Process utility payments, permits, licenses, and other town fees Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable Prepare bank deposits and reconcile financial records Assist with budgeting and financial reporting Maintain payroll and employee records Coordinate office supplies, mail, and general office operations Ensure compliance with applicable Utah municipal recordkeeping requirements Perform general secretarial and administrative duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Previous office administration, bookkeeping, or municipal experience preferred Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, email, and accounting software Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to handle confidential information professionally Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities Preferred Skills Knowledge of basic accounting and financial procedures Experience preparing meeting minutes and maintaining public records Familiarity with local government operations is beneficial Work Schedule Part-time Bi-monthly evening meetings required Compensation Salary dependent upon qualifications and experience How to Apply Interested applicants should submit: Cover Letter Resume References Applications may be submitted to: Trenton Town Mayor PO Box 77 mayor@trenton.utah.gov 435-754-4099 Applications will be accepted until Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 5pm.
